Time Warner Cable 4G Mobile Network to Launch in Rochester & Syracuse August 1

Road Runner Mobile, Business Class Mobile Will Deliver Speeds Five Times Faster Than 3G

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/07/2010 -- The Time Warner Cable 4G Mobile Network will launch in both Rochester and Syracuse August 1, 2010. Road Runner Mobile and Business Class Mobile will bring customers the freedom to take high-speed internet service with them outside the home and office. The new Time Warner Cable 4G Mobile network, covering more than 780 square miles in both markets, will deliver Internet speeds up to 6 Mbps or five times faster than 3G, making it the fastest mobile broadband network available.

The company also announced Road Runner Mobile will give customers the option of choosing IntelliGo, a dual-mode mobile hotspot powered by the Sierra Wireless W801 device, enabling up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices such as the iPod Touch® and iPad™ mobile digital devices, portable gaming devices, laptops and cameras to connect to the Time Warner Cable 4G and 3G mobile networks for high-speed internet access on the go.

Customers will have no usage caps on usage on the Road Runner Mobile 3G/4G network, making it unique among wireless providers.

“With Time Warner Cable’s 4G Mobile Network, we now offer the fastest mobile service available and extend our reach outside the home,” said Mike Munley, President of Residential Services for Time Warner Cable’s East Region. “Giving our customers the convenience of mobility and the speed of 4G, Road Runner Mobile lets customers take their favorite Internet service wherever they go. This is an important part of our strategy to give our customers any content, on any device, anytime, anywhere.”

Beginning August 1st, residential customers will be able to enjoy the benefits of the superfast broadband mobile speeds, and business customers will be able to sign-up for service around the end of August.

Road Runner Mobile users will have the ability to view streaming videos, listen to music and engage in online gaming while also having access to resources such as Web Mail, Internet security, data storage and other online services at www.rr.com. Business Class Mobile customers will have the luxury of downloading large office files, accessing intranet sites, utilizing customer relationship tools and other business-related information.

Road Runner Mobile and Business Class Mobile will utilize three different types of devices and equipment to power high-speed data access. USB data cards and the previously mentioned IntelliGo device allow users to connect to 4G and 3G networks via laptop computers. Mobile Internet devices and laptops already provisioned with embedded WiMAX radio chipsets can also use the service.

The IntelliGo hotspot is remarkably simple and easy to use and offers customers a number of additional benefits. Its compact design and lightweight form makes it easy to carry; it includes a LCD screen that provides important information such as battery life and Internet connection status, as well as an easy-to-use web interface for customizing settings. It includes built-in GPS capability (on 3G), a MicroSD slot for up to 16 GB memory cards creating shared storage with up to five connected devices, and an extended Wi-Fi range of up to 150 feet.

“IntelliGo allows customers to really leverage the speed of the Time Warner Cable 4G network and the coverage of a nationwide 3G network on all of their Wi-Fi enabled devices anywhere they go,” Munley added. “We’re excited to be bringing our customers IntelliGo and the ability to connect their favorite Wi-Fi devices to our 4G mobile network.”

Road Runner Mobile customers benefit from preferred pricing plans that allow them to bundle their 4G Mobile Network service with their cable TV, high-speed data and digital phone services. By bundling these services together, customers also get the added advantage of a single monthly bill making payments simple and easy.

Subscribers to Time Warner Cable’s 4G Mobile Network will be able to utilize super-fast 4G Internet access in other Time Warner Cable 4G markets including Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin, TX; Charlotte, Raleigh and Greensboro, NC; Kansas City, MO and Honolulu and Maui, HI. Customers will also be able to access the 4G network in additional cities outside the Time Warner Cable footprint including Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, and Seattle. Additional 4G networks planned for launch in 2010 include New York City, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Boston, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Los Angeles.
