BSI to Host Free Webinar on US-Canada Supply Chain Security

Reston, VA -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/29/2010 -- BSI announces its next free webinar, entitled “Supply Chain Risk and Security - A Focus on Trends and Solutions for the US - Canada Marketplace," to be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2009. This webinar will provide a tutorial on established and emerging threats to supply chain security and outline best approaches to avoiding cargo disruption, with a particular emphasis on US-Canada trade.

According to the US Census Bureau, trade last year between Canada and the US exceeded US$430 Billion . The Commerce Department estimates there is US$1.5 billion in two-way commercial traffic every day between the two countries, with approximately 70% transported by truck. With this much freight moving every day, cargo exposure risk is a serious problem. Theft, loss, tampering, the introduction of unmanifested cargo, and other forms of cargo disruption are serious threats to cross border trade.

BSI’s next webinar will be conducted by Beth Adams, a recognized expert in supply chain compliance with a background in both academia and industry. This webinar will demonstrate ways to develop a best-in-class supply chain security system, highlighting the advantages of applying a true “risk-based” approach across the entire enterprise supplier network. In addition, Ms. Adams will provide an overview of the C-TPAT, PIP and FAST programs, including eligibility requirements and benefits, as well as the new ACI Phase 3 requirements.
