Dubai, UAE -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/04/2010 -- Eton Institute, the UAE’s leading language training centre, announced that it will be hosting a free Arabic and Ramadan etiquette course throughout the holy month of Ramadan, as it is been doing for the last 4 years. The much-awaited free Arabic course, which covers an entire beginner’s level in Arabic, will include essential cultural awareness and Ramadan etiquette guidelines that will allow the expatriate community to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of local traditions and the Arab way of life.

Dr. Eli Abi Rached, Director of Eton Institute, commented: “Ramadan is a very special month as it is a celebration of the human spirit of empathy, self-control, introspection and charity. Especially in the region, it is marked as a period of learning, understanding and kinship for the entire community, irrespective of race, nationality or belief. We are pleased to announce yet another session of the eagerly awaited free Arabic course, as a humble gesture of giving back to the community at this special time of the year. By sharing knowledge and promoting an understanding of the local language and culture, the course hopes to further strengthen the bond between the expat and local community.”

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is a holy month of fasting, piety and introspection for Muslims around the world. During this special time of spiritual renewal, believers not only abstain from food and drink from dawn till dusk, but also refrain from all everyday-evils while channelizing their energies towards good-deeds and charity. As Ramadan draws closer, there is a lot of anticipation and often a sense of uncertainty within the expat community of the UAE, particularly those who have migrated to the country recently, with regards to what is expected of them during the holy month of Ramadan, both socially and legally. To address these uncertainties and to give an insight into the customs of the region, particularly during Ramadan, the free Arabic course will also share essential cultural awareness and Ramadan etiquette guidelines. By encouraging cultural sensitivity, the course will help participants avoid social faux pas and prevent causing unintentional offense.

The free Arabic course will be conducted three times a week, Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, throughout the month of Ramadan, starting 12 August. It will cover an entire beginner’s level in Arabic, with 15 minutes of each session being devoted to Ramadan etiquette and cultural awareness. Keeping in mind the high demand and limited places available, the institute will be announcing the free course registration dates only through their Facebook and Twitter accounts to their fans and followers.

Interested people are encouraged to join Eton Institute on its Facebook and Twitter pages to find out more about the free Arabic course and to receive updates about when and how they may register. Alternatively, they may email contact@eton.ac or visit www.eton.ac for more information.
