Festival Season Will See Renewed Online Activity

Bangalore, Karnataka -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/01/2010 -- The festival season in India begins from this month with the auspicious Ganesh Chaturthi and Id-Ul-Fitr, both in September. These will be followed by festivities at regular intervals, promising a season of cheer, celebration and community participation. We have Durga Pooja, Navaratri and Dussahera in October. Then comes Diwali, the largest of Indian festivals. Closing the year will be Christmas. We then have the New Year celebrations to bring in the year 2011.

This festival season is different for several reasons; most important is that we are seeing an economic resurgence from the recession of the past two years. India is seeing high economic growth and prosperity this year and we should have celebrations and joy in all parts of the country. The monsoon looks like it will be a normal one and the crops should provide our farmers with a large bounty. This will translate into large spends and the cheer will result in more consumption and business.

Online shopping will continue to expand this year with more people coming online. With the number of mobiles now totaling several hundred million and more mobile phones equipped with internet connectivity, we should expect more shoppers to use the online medium and websites to browse and look for products and buy them online.

To usher in the festivities, greetings will be sent out and more of these will be by email and SMS as the trend towards becoming paperless starts gaining acceptance. Less greeting card in the mail and more email greetings to your mailbox. It is also time for websites to start presenting the colors of the season and innovations are beginning on this front.

Indiamap is offering special themes for websites during the festival season. "We have special wallpapers, email greetings, banners, downloadable presentations and exclusive festival linked designs lined up for the Indian Diasporas around the world. These are available for free download from our website. We also have corporate packages for businesses who would like to create special themes for their websites and have custom designs on their emails. We will roll these out shortly and promote them extensively among businesses and online communities." says Ashish Chauhan, Senior Project Coordinator at Indiamap, an Online Marketing and Web Media company.

"This year we have a very large audience of users who are active on the social media platforms including Facebook, Orkut, MySpace and Twitter and we will have a lot of activity on the online and mobile medium this season. This may be the first season where a lot of tweeting will be used to send out festival messages. We are planning on some special campaigns using the social media platform to celebrate the festive season and also help our clients reach out to their customers during the celebrations." adds Chethan Kashyap, Assistant Manager - Digital Marketing at Indiamap.

As the four months of celebrations and festivals progress, India is certain to see a large burst of activity and color in the online and mobile world. You can count on seeing websites with more vibrancies and festival themes. There will also be a lot of activity on the social media platforms to announce and greet communities during the festivals. The virtual world is looking ever so exciting and this year should bring in new trends in activity, design and communication.
