Napier, New Zealand -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/09/2014 -- Carlos Keough's dream is to combine the old and the new in Napier City, New Zealand, restoring an iconic building in which his restaurant is located.
It's the Ooh Lah Lah Café and Pizzeria, serving a full menu, starting at 6 a.m. "We offer the freshest meals with a full breakfast, lunch and all-day pizza menu," said Keough, owner of Ooh Lah Lah. "We use only the finest Hawkes Bay ingredients with dough made fresh daily. We also serve Hawkes Bay wines and local boutique beers.
"We have the only pizzeria in Napier City. It's a relaxed dining experience, with outstanding food and friendly, efficient service. I've worked in the hospitality industry all my life and have a great passion for people, service and food."
The café is located in a Heritage 1 Art Deco building, built after the Napier 1931 Earthquake. Noting that Napier is known as the "Art Deco Capital of the world," Keough wants to complete a restoration of the Thorps building, bringing it back to its former glory and keeping everything as original as possible. He is replicating or restoring the lighting, the original safe, and stained glass windows as well as the original concrete floor and frontage.
"I have already invested heavily and need extra capital in order to finish my project," said Keough, who is seeking $5,000 in additional funding. "The money will be used to offset building costs and materials."

Donations of any amount are welcome. For $10, backers will receive a leaflet describing the restoration project. A $60 contribution is rewarded with a branded T-shirt plus the leaflet.
