Irvine, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/12/2014 -- In November 2013, then 57-year-old Huntington Beach resident Dorothea Kalatschan was diagnosed with lung cancer. The cancer had metastasized to her brain and contributed to slight motor difficulty. While she could have just easily stopped being active, instead, she slowly worked her way back to training at Innovative Results Gym (IR) in Costa Mesa. With exercise progressions designed to make people move better, look better, and feel better, IR's signature group training sessions create a strong foundation for igniting the inner will.
In the past, cancer patients were often advised by medical professionals to focus on rest or refrain from physical activity. But recent research suggests that exercise can greatly improve overall quality of life. As Kalatschan herself says of her Innovative Results training experience, "it's really helped me... mentally, be more on-focus and on-task with just who I am…. It's enforced in me the idea that, I don't want to give up, I don't want to quit."
Head Coaches and Co-Owners Corey Beasley and Aaron Guyett have been instrumental in Kalatschan's journey back to health. Beasley's varied daily programming coupled with Guyett's motivational mindset work turn the 60 minutes of personal training on its head. With several people attending the one-hour class, this unconventional fitness facility encourages a team aspect among all its clients. Kalatschan sums up the IR effect on her overall health: "There's community here. I have a better start to the day… I'm clearer if I can exercise my body [and] it also exercises my emotion and spirit."
Although Kalatschan was quite ill in March, she has gradually returned to IR to train twice a week. Her recovery success speaks to Innovative Results' dedication to comprehensive health and wellness.
