RentThreads is a new online clothing retailer that will allow shoppers to rent or buy quality clothing, with a social networking twist.
Denver, CO -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/02/2015 -- Mr. Chris Creger is crowdfunding to develop a website and place initial orders with top quality clothing companies such as Nike, The North Face, Spyder, Patagonia, and more to get the wheels turning on RentThreads. The website will invest in inventory that Chris calls "short-term" clothing: clothing that is only worn during certain times of the year. Chris envisions a website that will communicate simplicity, yet stir the way people shop for their clothes by providing a fun and exciting shopping experience. Inventory will consist of clothing for both sale and rental purposes, as well as both brand new and gently used clothing.
The business model of RentThreads is unique; not only can clothing be purchased or rented for varying periods of time, but the shopper will also be able to communicate with others who are also members of the RentThread community. All RentThreads inventory will start as new clothing that RentThreads will purchase from vendors. From there, customers can choose to buy or rent, depending on the time they need the clothing. The rental model is a convenient, money saving mechanism, as customers can rent clothes for a special occasion, a semester of school, or even a whole season, saving them money on clothes they'll only be wearing for a short period of time. This not only saves the customer money, but it also saves them closet space. Moreover, the rental concept has a "try before you buy" appeal as well, as customers will be able to rent out clothing before making a decision to commit to a long-term relationship with the attire. The fashion conscious also benefit as they can keep their wardrobe up-to-date by renting trendy clothing for the season, then sending that same wardrobe back to RentThreads and purchasing a brand new one for the next season.
The social networking aspects are unique to the clothing industry. Customers will be able to track profiles of top buyers and renters, claim certain articles of clothing for themselves, and even share virtual closets with other users. Customers will also be able to interact with one another, rate each other's styles, and meet new people with similar fashion interests. Some key attributes to this social networking idea: it will allow users to see what fashion is trending, to see what others think of their clothing choices, and to discover new clothing that they would have not otherwise been exposed to. Fashion has never been so friendly or affordable.
Crowdfunding for $25,000 is sought to develop the website which is critical to RentThreads' success. Funds will also be used to place initial orders to establish a base inventory to satisfy customer orders. Should Chris exceed his crowdfunding goal, all remaining funds will be applied to online marketing and promotion of the RentThreads website.
This crowdfunding campaign ends on January 31, 2015
