Hillside, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/13/2015 -- Owusu Kizito is a consultant and a project manager who is committed to helping Ghana, his homeland, as well as other underprivileged nations.
Kizito is the CEO of Investigroup NP, a New Jersey-based nonprofit corporation that is focusing on improving healthcare in underserved and underprivileged communities. At the present time, Ghana is a primary center of attention since Kizito grew up and did his undergraduate studies in the country.
"We are pursuing partners for medical supplies and equipment for selected healthcare providers in Ghana," he explains. "We have the capacity to purchase and ship these essential items to hospitals in Ghana and assure they reach the patients in need."
Investigroup NP has partnered with the Ministry of Health in Ghana, in addition to other governmental and non-governmental agencies, including the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) and the World Health Organization (WHO), which monitor the healthcare status of the country through the supply of adequate health care equipment.
In addition, Investigroup NP is currently working with Ghana's most advanced hospitals, Korle-Bu located in the capital city of Accra, and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, in Kumasi.
Ghana is particularly vulnerable since the life expectancy for it s citizens is just 60 years (compared to 78 in the United States) and the infant mortality rate is 51 percent (6 percent in the US). Nearly 30 percent of the population is below the poverty line.
"This nation is in dire need of help," says Kizito. "We're trying to do what we can to help with improving the quality of healthcare. Our program will provide medical equipment and supplies so that doctors can effectively treat, and prevent, disease."

The initial goal is $65,000, which will help get the program up and running. Donations of any amount are welcome.
"We are hoping that people will see the need for improved healthcare in Ghana and other countries and contribute what they can," Kizito says. "If everyone pitches in a few dollars, we can make this happen."
