Reviewing how skin tightening can be achieved on face & body with 2 different procedures
Edmonton, AB -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/23/2015 -- Skin tightening can be achieved on both face and body, using two different devices. Ulthera (also known as Ultherapy) is a device which uses focused ultrasound energy to achieve tightening in the lower layers of the skin. It is the only device to meet the FDA criteria for skin tightening. It was originally approved for facial use but has now been extended to cover the neck and chest areas as well. Liposuction is a long established cosmetic surgery procedure to remove excess unwanted fat and to provide body contouring. However, the problem of loose skin can also be addressed at the same time with the Thermo-Lipo procedure. This is where tumescent liposuction is performed and then immediately afterwards, Thermage is performed to tighten the skin in the same area. The skin tightening is achieved using the Thermage device, which uses radio-frequency energy to stimulate collagen.
This week on Inside Cosmetic Surgery Today on webtalkradio.net, show host, Edmonton Cosmetic Dermatologist Dr Barry Lycka welcomes once again, popular repeat guest, board certified dermatologist Dr Eugene Nowak, from his practice in Chula Vista, California.
In this in-depth interview, Dr Lycka & Dr Nowak discuss the development of Ulthera as a skin tightening device and the results that they have experienced. They highlight specific areas where they like to use it and also discuss the concept of combining the therapy with other procedures to provide comprehensive facial rejuvenation. They then move onto the problem of skin tightening on the body, which can be addressed by Thermo-Lipo. They talk in detail about the procedure, how it works and the results it creates. They also highlight the ideal, and not ideal, candidates for it.
