Deerfield Beach, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/13/2015 -- The statistics are truly staggering.
- On any given night, more than 600,000 Americans are homeless
- Nearly 400,000 are in shelters
- A total of 3.5 million Americans were homeless last year
- 23 percent of the homeless are veterans
- 41 percent of the homeless are families
- One out of every 30 US children is homeless
Don Campbell of Deerfield Beach, Fla., wants to do something about it. He has a gift for investing and making profits and, in this case, wants to use his skill to aid needy individuals and families. Campbell has established a private stock investment fund to help the homeless and the hungry.
Proceeds will be distributed to the Broward (Fla.) Partnership for the Homeless along with many other deserving organizations.
Campbell is soliciting donations through an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. The campaign can be viewed at www.indiegogo.com/projects/investment-fund-for-the-homeless. It includes a short video about the homeless problem and what people can do to help.
Donations of any amount are welcome. For a $100 contribution, backers will receive a $10 Walmart gift card. A $200 pledge is rewarded with a $30 Walmart gift card. Those who donate $500 will receive a $70 Walmart gift card.
"We are urging people to join our investment group in helping to give back to the less fortunate," says Campbell, who has been helping the homeless for more than 16 years and has a long and successful background in investing.
"The money raised will go directly toward helping the homeless and hungry. They need all of us to help them with this problem. It is up to us to make a difference."
