JLR used the 2015 Geneva Motor Show to make the announcement that the new car, first shown as a concept at the same show in 2012, will go on sale sometime in 2016.

The new model will be built in the firm's Halewood factory in Liverpool and will be produced beside the coupe and five-door models of the same car. The new Range Rover Evoque convertible recalls the time when Land Rover produced canvas covered open top models but the new car will be a proper convertible, with a modern folding fabric roof. The car will also have seating for four and a special rollover protection capability that is designed not to pop up mistakenly when the car is simply going off road.
