Figures Suggest Paramedics Made to Wait 42,000 Hours - Zen Law Comments

Manchester, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/01/2015 -- Recent figures obtained by Sky News show that in the last four weeks, paramedics were forced to queue outside A and E departments for more than a combined total of 42,000 hours.

These shocking statistics not only suggest that people may not always be getting the treatment they need, but many people are indeed sustaining accidents and injuries which require ambulance attention. This has caused much comment, especially from those leading support and advice provisions for people involved, including Zen Law.

The surge of admissions during the winter and early spring is in itself exacerbated by the weather and cuts to the medical service. Much of the means cannot be anticipated either, due to a key factor of uncertainty regarding road and workplace management. Up to 13% of these admissions logged by Sky News were due to trips and falls, many which could have been prevented – and not due to the victim.

In many circumstances, pressure on the medical service is compounded due to unexpected accidents often cased through negligence. For example, a number of falls are sustained in the workplace due to weather conditions being inappropriately addressed – such as wet floors. Accidents within this accumulated in what some term the 'winter crisis' where the 10 ambulance services in England were forced to spend £5 million hiring charities and private firms to make their workforce adequate.

Zen Law, leading injury lawyer specialists and frequent commentators in regards to personal injury and the healthcare system have been quick to comment.

"These recent figures are obviously disappointing" A spokesperson told us "As they reveal not only a rise in injuries and accidents but also a rise in circumstances of delay in which medical negligence can also be a problem.

"What is essential, especially passing out of winter and into spring, that if you consider yourself to have had an injury that was not your fault – whether on the roads or at work – or have faced what you believe to be a circumstance of medical negligence – you are entitled to support and the possibility of a claim. As experts in the area, a key injury lawyers in Manchester, we know of the diversity of injuries that can occur and believe it is essential that people feel a in a position to obtain the support they need."
