Gurgaon, Haryana -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/01/2015 -- Last month more than 400 members of the media attended ProMat 2015 in Chicago. Leading manufacturing journalist Thomas R. Cutler was among the press covering the show. Cutler, contributing editor for Robotics Tomorrow, authored the article, titled, "Robots at ProMat to Feature Indian AGVs for the First Time." According to Cutler, the order picking AGVs (automated guided vehicles) or BOTS are used to move ordered products to trailer-loading area for distribution. Distribution center (DC) operations managers must ensure these vehicles are capable of executing multiple paths and bus routes, possess safety features including safety-class bumpers and laser range sensors for obstacle detection. It is critical to have multi-vehicle coordination and optional intersection management. These "labor" workers must integrate with central MES (manufacturing execution systems).
Hi-Tech Robotic Systemz made its North American debut at ProMat 2015 last week in Chicago, IL, with a focus on automating e-commerce fulfillment centers. According to Anuj Kapuria, Director & CEO, representing the company at the huge material handling robotics event, "Order picking AGVs (automated guided vehicles) or robots are used to move ordered products to trailer-loading area for distribution. For the last few years goods to person solutions for e-commerce omni-channel fulfillment have grown dramatically. While robotic picking and packing technology has been around for a decade the recent dimensional technology advancements have been extraordinary, and this is why we introduced our solution to the North American market with ProMat."
