Sheds Light on the Top Meal Plan Diets launches another vertical that ranks the top meal plan diets.

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/16/2015 -- (TBC) is launching a new vertical that outlines the best meal plans for weight loss and improved heart health.

According to Washington University researchers, losing weight helps the heart in four ways: the heart's pumping ability, the thickness of the carotid artery walls, the thickness of the heart muscle tissue, and the heart's ability to relax.

When people have excess fat around the heart and stomach, the heart is forced to work harder to pump blood throughout the body. When individuals begin to shed that fat, it takes stress off the heart and lightens its workload. Excess fat can also clog the coronary arteries, putting many people at risk for a heart attack.

For those who are overweight, just losing 10 percent of their body weight can help reduce their chance of a stroke and heart attack.

In a market where every diet promises the best results, TBC saw a need to show consumers unbiased reviews and information about weight loss companies.

"People interested in dieting have a lot of options," TBC PR Director Jessica Jensen said. "Meal plans are a great option because they take the planning out of dieting. They can also be expensive, so we want to make sure consumers have unbiased data they can pull from to make informed decisions."

To rank meal plans, TBC compared price, average weight loss, variety of meals offered, any added health benefits the meal plan has to offer and a few other factors. Then, these rankings fluctuate based on reviews from real consumers.

To date TBC has reviewed 15 companies that offer meal plans including Medifast, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem and more.

"We found that the company that offered the best weight loss meals at the best price was Nutrisystem. Bistro MD and HMR Diet were also in our top scorers," said Jensen. "As this platform grows, we will continue to add new companies and reevaluate our scores based on real user evaluations."
