Cranston, RI -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/07/2015 -- April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month and the Bottaro Law Firm is working to help keep motorists safe in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. By drawing attention to the dangers of distracted driving, Bottaro Law hopes to help decrease the number of car crashes and fatalities in the community.

A recent study by the AAA Foundation reports that one in three people have a loved one who has been seriously injured or killed in a crash, and one in five drivers have been in a serious crash themselves. Texting and driving is a well-known driving distraction, but drivers may not be aware of the many other forms that distracted driving can take. In a special effort to combat distracted driving, Bottaro Law is offering an incentive to college students to not text and drive with the Don't Text & Drive scholarship competition. The $1,000 scholarship award will be given directly to the student for use on education-related expenses. The entry deadline is May 1, 2015 and the winner will be announced on June 1, 2015.
