The fourth part of a six part series stresses how time is a valuable asset that can be increased with effective communication.
Dickmeyer introduced Tom McCoy, Executive Director of the Employee Engagement Institute, to discuss driving high levels of engagement. Dickmeyer shared, "Corporations can chew through a lot of wasted time if they don't have effective communications underpinning all kinds of changes, so McCoy has a great perspective."
McCoy explained, "The first approach is to engage employees in the business strategy; provide them with the information that they need to be effective. Then help them understand what that information means. The third step is to provide them the tools to act on that information. The fourth and fifth steps are to provide them the opportunity use the tools and a reason to use the tools to improve the outcomes. The first step is all about effective communications."
