Brentwood, TN -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/20/2015 -- Care management specialist myNEXUS welcomed two new Senior Vice Presidents and four new Medical Directors. Formerly of DaVita, Matt Bassett becomes the company's new Senior V.P. of Government Affairs. Most recently of MCMC, Curt Neel joins myNEXUS as its new Senior V.P. of Network Development. Anthony Cmelak, M.D., R. David Heekin, M.D., R. Tom Miller, M.D., and Chris Semder, M.D., F.A.C.C, will serve as the company's new medical directors.

"As awareness grows about the power of the myNEXUS telehealth approach," myNEXUS CEO McArthur VanOsdale stated, "we are thrilled to welcome six highly accomplished individuals to the company. Our new Senior VPs and Medical Directors will help guide myNEXUS through the next stage in the company's development."

The myNEXUS approach uses technology to connect disparate healthcare actors. The company's telehealth system provides home-based monitoring of patients that uploads through standard Internet connections. Trained experts assess data, pointing out any undesirable developments to health professionals. The outcome is more effective healthcare that costs less, because deteriorating health conditions are caught before they develop further.

Arriving at myNEXUS after building his own consulting firm, Matthew Bassett brings a strong history of interfacing with governments at every level. From his new post as Senior Vice President of Government Affairs at myNEXUS, Basset will develop new opportunities for the company and advise policy developments in ways that reflect the company's interests. Bassett's work with dialysis company DaVita made him the clear choice for the position. Prior to DaVita, Bassett served as Chief of Staff of Kentucky's Cabinet for Health and Family Services, working with Governors like Florida's Jeb Bush to push for greater state autonomy for Medicaid programs. His prior work with members of Congress in Washington D.C. included handling health policy issues before the Energy and Commerce Committee.

With a career spanning 30 years in managed care and network development, incoming myNEXUS Senior V.P. Curt Neel will forge new relationships that will extend the fast-growing company's reach. Neel's previous work with managed care company MCMC and cost-management specialist multiPlan singled him out to myNEXUS leaders as the perfect candidate to fill the role of Senior Vice President of Network Development.

In addition to these important additions to the myNEXUS management team, the company is pleased to welcome four new Medical Directors. A graduate of Northwestern and Stanford, Anthony Cmelak, M.D., is a Nashville based clinical oncologist. He is currently the Senior Medical Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and was recognized as one of the Top 1% Doctors in America by U.S. News and World Report. At Vanderbilt, he also trains Residents in conducting prospective clinical trials, and has coauthored a variety of research studies exploring cancers of the head and neck.

R. David Heekin, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon with more than three decades of experience, throughout which he has combined clinical excellence with cutting-edge research. He currently serves as the Medical Director of the Orthopedic Center for Excellence at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida, and is a graduate of the Uniform Services University of the Health Sciences School of Medicine.

New myNEXUS Medical Director Tom Miller, M.D., is a geriatric medicine specialist who previously served in the role for a number of home health companies. Miller's experience as Medical Director and Owner of the Geriatric Consulting Group of Nashville, Tennessee makes him a natural fit for myNEXUS, given both organizations' emphases on home health services. Dr. Tom Miller attended Medical School at the University of Tennessee and underwent Internal Medicine training at Johns Hopkins University.

Finally, Dr. Chris Semder's extensive clinical work with patients suffering from chronic conditions like diabetes and congestive pulmonary disorder will provide myNEXUS with especially appropriate perspective given the potential the company's telehealth system holds for such individuals. Semder is a graduate of Marshall University and currently works as an Interventional Cardiologist at the Louisville Cardiology Group.
