Dickson, ACT -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/22/2015 -- Smokers have found a new way to cut their smoking habits with the conventional cigarettes and tobaccos that contain unfiltered and harmful toxins like nicotine through e-cigarettes, bongs and water pipes. Studies have shown that this modern way of smoking is estimated to be 95% less harmful than cigarette smoking since these devices filters the smoke inhaled and that users will be able to control the amount of nicotine intake that are mixed with the flavourings. Aside from that, these smoking devices were found to be a good support for smokers who are struggling to quit smoking addiction to cigarettes if used everyday than infrequently.
Recently, new studies have revealed that e-cigarettes, water pipes and bongs can help smokers quit from their smoking habits especially when different versions of refillable "tanks" will be used and experienced. Though there are lots of controversy with regards to the use of e-cigarettes and other smoking devices in helping to get rid of the addiction, some critics sees the e-cigarettes as tobacco industry's stalking horse – where most of the companies are now also engaged in manufacturing the "cigalikes": that is the same with the standard cigarettes.
According to Professor Ann McNeil of King's College London's Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, most smokers has the desire to stop yet what hinders them is the struggles and disadvantage they are experiencing. However, with the use of e-cigarettes and other smoking devices that are used more frequently, chances of stopping from smoking cigarettes or tobaccos as quick as possible is high. And in case that if these don't work anymore, they can opt for something else. And even though none of the papers that were published have proven that e-cigarettes could be the key for many smokers to enable them to stop smoking, they still provide the needed evidence that these smoking devices can help people who are trying to quit from their habits.
In fact, a 40-year-old smoker named Tom Smith who used to smoke for 40 years with two packs a day, have seen a lot of health improvements after switching from smoking to "vaping". Upon his discovery of electronic cigarettes; within a month, he managed to quit from smoking tobacco. From his previous blood pressure of 145/80, it dropped dramatically to 122/62. Aside from this, his sinuses have been cleared up, have felt better in the morning and looked years younger after he called it quits with tobacco and had switched to vaping e-cigarettes, where twisted peppermint is his favourite flavour. And many smokers from the vaping community can attest the effectiveness of such in withdrawing from their addiction to smoking.
Yet, even though many health officials acknowledge what these smoking devices like e-cigarettes, bongs and water pipes can make changes to the smoker's health, their only concern on these "cigalikes" is the unknown dangers it may bring. For Megan Piper, a researcher from University of Wisconsin-Madison's Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention, the problem why there's no strong claim for the health benefits of e-cigarettes is that the pieces of evidence presented are still not enough. And no matter how many studies, articles and commentaries have been published, e-cigarettes and other smoking devices will always be described either as an effective method to end smoke addiction or another public health hazard. Thus, an independent research will be needed to be able to form a strong perception about the use of e-cigarette, bongs and water pipes as a much healthier way of smoking than standard cigarettes and tobaccos.
