Extra-virgin olive oil is also recommended, as it is believed to reduce inflammation in the same way that NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as aspirin do. Olive oil contains oleocanthal, a compound that stops enzymes from causing inflammation.
