Standish, MI -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/27/2015 -- Delivering Excellence newsletter is reporting weekly how food and beverage trends are changing the growth of various programs and organizations. This week's Delivering Excellence shared information from Irish Independent editor Darragh McCullough that Glanbia is making the biggest investment by an Irish company since the 1920s; the €185m plant will provide direct and indirect employment for an estimated 1,600 people. It will process 700m liters of milk annually, turning it into powder for export all over the world. It is predicted that consumption of dairy products will increase globally over the coming years by up 20bn liters a year.
While countries such as the US and New Zealand have already increased output significantly in response to strong demand, Irish processors such as Glanbia expect their suppliers to increase production by up to 63pc over the next five years to take advantage of the removal EU milk quota limits that have effectively frozen Irish milk output over the last thirty years. The plant design is currently evaluating the most efficacious way to protect the safety of workers while maximizing productivity.
