Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/01/2015 -- For the ninth year running, Honda has been named the most reliable used car manufacturer in Warranty Direct's annual Reliability Index.
When looking for used cars West Yorkshire buyers should take a look at the Reliability Index before making a choice, which saw Suzuki take second place, Toyota third and Chevrolet and Mazda sharing joint fourth. Sixth place went to Ford, followed by Lexus and Skoda was eighth. Three car makers shared ninth place: Hyundai, Subaru and Nissan. While Japanese brands dominated the top 10, European manufacturers didn't do too badly, with Peugeot, Fiat and Citroen making the top 15.
Honda's consistent success is in part thanks to a low failure rate but also because repairs are relatively cheap to effect.
Some 38 car manufacturers and 50,000 warranty policies were analysed to compile results based upon age, failure rate, mileage and repair costs. The study is restricted to cars aged from three to eight years old, with models given a score based upon their performance. Lower scores signify the most reliable cars. An analysis of faults recorded showed that electrical issues account for nearly a quarter of all repairs, closely followed by axle and suspension problems.
