Standing Firm: Hard-Hitting New Novel Fuses Fact & Fiction to Depict the Cruel Reality of Domestic Violence. Is It Really Worth Sacrificing Everything for Fame?

Gerald C. Anderson Sr.’s ‘Standing Firm: One Family's Fight Against Domestic Violence’ depicts the life of a young starlet with a thirst for fame. Turning her back on a loving family who live to the good word of the Lord, Raine joins forces with a shady man who delivers the fame he promises, but subjects her to harrowing abuse in the process. Anderson’s narrative is a microcosm of the abuse that plights the lives of millions of American women; a fictional tale with a very real wakeup call for reality.

White Plains, MD -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/05/2015 -- While domestic violence is hidden behind the doors of homes on almost every American street, each case is chillingly unique and often a product of the most bizarre circumstances. For the protagonist in Gerald C. Anderson Sr.'s searing new novel, her life of hurt and pain should have been a life under the spotlight.

All is exposed in 'Standing Firm: One Family's Fight Against Domestic Violence'. Reading Raine's story of abuse can be difficult and painful at times, but it tells a vital story of America's dark undercurrent of abuse.

Synopsis:

Lorraine "Raine" Davis, the youngest of the Davis family wants to be a star! She's willing and ready to do whatever it takes to get a record deal; even if that means disappointing her father and trading in the only man she's ever loved to join forces with Damien Black and his demonic organization. On the biggest day of her life, her allegiance is tested and she's faced with the difficult decision to continue singing in the church choir and living for the Lord or forever give up the only existence she's ever known.

Damien promised Raine a lavish lifestyle beyond her wildest dreams. She leaves the church, denounces her family and signs her name in blood to reap all of the benefits that were promised to her. After converting, Raine's world erupts. She is ill-prepared for the infidelity and physical abuse she must endure at the hands of her new beau, Damien. Raine is reminded daily of her reckless decision by having to hide the bruises on her body and live with the emotional scars.

In a desperate attempt to undo what has never been undone, Raine's fight to win her soul back is not an easy one. Only God and God alone can help her now.

"Most have no idea what goes on in an abusive relationship, and I've spent hundreds of hours doing often uncomfortable and stomach-churning research in order to depict it as vividly as possible," explains Anderson, a prolific writer. "And it's far from just for entertainment – this narrative speaks on behalf of all women who feel like they don't have a voice."

Continuing, "It also addresses humanity's innate makeup to do whatever it takes to achieve the success we crave, putting focus on the dangers this all-or-nothing approach can lead us into. Raine's family will need to fight to get her back. The question is, what will be the cost?"
