Pasadena, CA-- (SBWIRE) -- 10/08/2010 -- Monster has released a report stating that online demand for hiring showed a one percent increase in September. ADP’s report shows that the economy had a net loss of 39,000 jobs last month.

The Monster Employment Index measures employers’ recruitment activity online. Jesse Harriot of Monster says that the report tallies fairly well with payroll numbers, which have a lag of 50 to 60 days. The report also showed that the job board found most of the new jobs available on its site coming from government sources.

The ADP National Employment Report has painted a gloomier picture of the economy. ADP handles and processes payroll for several businesses and according to its calculations, around 39,000 jobs were lost in September. That is the first decline in seven months. The ADP figures include only private nonfarm jobs. The only bright spot in the APD report was that the service sector added 6,000 jobs.

CEO A. Harrison Barnes of Hound believes that although that the Labor Report will show job losses in several sectors there are still opportunities for highly skilled people. “Seasonal jobs in retail stores are another window of opportunity for unemployed people to get some work and earn a decent sum for a few months.”

Hound is a job search engine that has been able to find a total of over 97,000 jobs posted on employer websites so far. The company expects more job postings in the next few days as the retail chains announce their plans for this holiday season.
