Integrating Holism Within the Contemporary Western Healthcare System

 

Topeka, KS -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/02/2015 -- The American Holistic Nurses Association will be hosting a presentation titled "Integrating Holism within the Contemporary Western Healthcare System: Models and Methods" on Saturday, June 13, 2015 from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm in Branson, Missouri at its 35th annual conference. This interactive, half-day workshop will enable the holistic nurse attendee to develop the skills needed to effect change, increase awareness and appreciation of the impact of our holistic roots within the western healthcare model. The learning process will include a review of successful case studies and development of a personal action plan to transform holism into practice.

Sharon Weinstein, MS, CRNI, FACW, FAAN, has 30 years of experience as an educator on topics including Work/Life Balance, Fatigue, Sleep, and Stress Management. She is the Chief Wellness Officer for SMW Group LLC. Sharon uses her nursing platform to educate others about work/life balance as an adjunct clinical professor at the University of Illinois, Chicago College of Nursing and a serving as a member of the Professional Advisory Board of Kaplan University College of Nursing. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Wellness and the American Academy of Nursing.

Stephen Weinstein, MHA, is a healthcare executive with over twenty-five years of experience in progressively more responsible senior leadership positions within both non-profit and investor-owned, for-profit hospitals, and regional/national health systems. His expertise extends beyond the hospital to the community. He credits his approach to holistic environments to a successful career. He is a member of the National Wellness Institute and the American College of Wellness. As CEO of for-profit and not-for-profit facilities, he has a clear understanding of the role of work/life balance on recruitment/retention, satisfaction and outcomes. He served as CEO of the District of Columbia's healthcare system as well as Michael Reese Hospital and Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
