Cusco, Peru -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/15/2015 -- Project World School has announced an upcoming teen retreat that will be held in Cusco, Peru. The retreat will take place from July 13, 2015, through August 3, 2015, and worldschoolers are encouraged to register before spaces become unavailable.
Project World School offers unique study abroad experiences for homeschoolers who travel the world. Founded by Lainie Liberti and her son, Miro Siegel, Project World School focuses on creating enriching retreats and courses around the world for traveling homeschoolers. By offering learning communities that intervene regularly in new places, Project World School offers traditional education that extends beyond the norm. While meeting in a class setting, student groups are encouraged to work together and display leadership. Worldschooling families, those who travel and homeschool, are using the learning community platform more and more to offer fun, powerful learning experiences for their children.
Cusco attracts people from all around the world to its rich history and lush landscape. Cusco is nestled in the Peruvian Andes along the mountain Machu Picchu. In 1983, UNESCO named Cusco a World Heritage Site. From the 13th to 16th century, Cusco was the capital of the Incan empire. Now, people flock to see ancient ruins including temples, the Cathedral of Santo Domingo, and the fortress at Ullantaytampu. Visitors can take the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, seeing much of the sights by foot.
Currently, registration is open for the Cusco Teen Retreat with Project World School. Teens will see and learn firsthand about the ancient people and architecture of Cusco by experiencing history. Instead of reading history books or seeing videos, students will get the opportunity to explore ruins, learn about the traditions of ancient people, and discover the architecture left behind. Students will visit the Sacred Valley, the land of the Incas, during this 22-day temporary learning community.
Project World School hosts teen retreats to offer an immersive experience that provides memories for a lifetime. With collaborative goals at their forefront, students and parents alike work towards gaining knowledge, a global perspective, and personal development. 2015 teen retreats have included a mini-learning community in Ecuador, a family retreat in Ecuador, and now the Cusco, Peru, learning retreat.
