Alice Audouin Starts Kickstarter Campaign to Support MASKBOOK, a Collective Citizen Action to Prevent Climate Change

Alice Audouin wants to fight climate change in a positive and fun way like never before by using masked selfies. This innovative campaign is the brainchild of Art of Change 21, a French nonprofit organization and an international collective of 21 artists, social entrepreneurs, and young leaders.

Matawan, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/16/2015 -- A unique initiative, MASKBOOK is a collective citizen action for prevention of climate change that utilizes the 'mask' as a symbol. Rapid degradation of climate is a burning issue for people all over the world. Unless immediate corrective measures taken, the human race may soon fall prey to more pollution, heat waves, allergies, and many other problems. Alice Audouin believes that the time has come to act right away. COP21, the next International Conference on Climate is scheduled to be held in Paris in December this year. This is the occasion Alice and her associates have chosen to do a fun and impactful action for the protection of climate and human health.

All participants will be invited to create their own portrait with a mask. After gathering thousands of masked portraits, they will be exhibited on the MASKBOOK website. During COP21, some of the best portraits on display will be projected on huge buildings in Paris and an art video created by in an art video by Chinese artist Wen Fang.

Art of Change 21 has already set up a distribution network of eco-designed anti-pollution masks. These masks will be available online as soon as the MASKBOOK website is up and running. This website will also gather people's ideas concerning a potential solution to the environmental crisis. Within this website, there will be a blog, a 'DIY Mask Bank', and a pedagogical section concerning health and climate.

Talking about the concept behind MASKBOOK, Alice Audouin says, "MASKBOOK's name is a humorous adaptation of the famous social network to speak out about something serious: faces are replaced by faces of people wearing anti-pollution masks during pollution peaks, in more and more cities, from Beijing to New Delhi, Teheran and even Moscow, Mexico, and even Paris!"

The MASKBOOK project is already being backed by the French Environmental Agency ADEME and got the label "COP21" by the French Government. However, Art of Change 21 needs additional funding assistance to make it big. A Kickstarter campaign has been launched recently to raise all necessary expenses for the project. This project will only be funded if at least €35,000 is pledged by June 26, 2015.
