Lewes, DE -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/19/2015 -- Glyphosate has the largest consumption among the sterilant herbicides; besides, it is widely used with low price. However, after using for years with large quantity, glyphosate's effect on perennial malignant weeds weakens. Glufosinate-ammonium, with excellent effect on parts of malignant weeds resistant to glyphosate, covers the shortage of glyphosate. Recently, some domestic enterprises put forward the application for registrations on formulations mixed by glyphosate and glufosinate-ammonium. For this, the ICAMA collects suggestions and opinions concerning the rational mix proportion for these formulations. In fact, the formulations mixed by glyphosate and glufosinate-ammonium can help solve the problem of glyphosate resistance. Meantime, it can increase the consumption of glufosinate-ammonium. If the mixed formulations are developed and registered successfully, glyphosate and glufosinate-ammonium will have promising development prospect. Nevertheless, at present, related products are still undergoing primary stage of registration application, and the MOA should arrange various experiments after determining the rational mix proportion. Therefore, it will take at least two years for the registration approval. Currently, due to the insufficient production capacity and exorbitant price of glufosinate-ammonium, the market demand is not fully released. What's more, there are still few enterprises can achieve mass-production on glufosinate-ammonium, due to production technique, safety and high requirements of environmental protection. It is believed that if the mixed formulations of glyphosate and glufosinate-ammonium are launched on the market, the consumption volume will be stimulated to some extent.

Since the WHO claimed that the glyphosate contained in Monsanto's Roundup may cause cancer, the toxicity of glyphosate has raised strong concern from many countries. So, will glyphosate encounter the prohibition and be forced to withdraw from the market in China?

At present, the potential of glyphosate to cause cancer arouses great concerns all over the world. Related institutes in the EU, the US, Brazil and Argentina are conducting reassessments on glyphosate. If the assessment result is negative, it will be greatly detrimental to the consumption of glyphosate in the above regions, which are major export destinations for glyphosate in China. Subsequently, China's glyphosate industry will suffer heavily.

The shares of pesticides whose patent is about to expire account for over one-third in the global pesticide market. Thus, China's pesticide manufacturers pay much attention to the development and utilization of expired or to-expire patented products.

The previously traditional sales model on agricultural means of production is gradually transforming along with social change. At present, the new type of marketing channel on agricultural means of production, which mainly includes direct selling and e-commerce selling, exerts an irreversible influence on the traditional marketing channel on agricultural means of production.

In Jan.-April 2015, the number of new registrations of glyphosate totaled 38 in China.

In 2014, Sinochem International recorded YoY rise of 7.11% in revenue of pesticide business; of this, its product Roundup (glyphosate) achieved relatively large growth in sale volume in 2014. Sinochem International disclosed that it makes up nearly 30% of the shares in China's glyphosate market.

Zhenjiang Jiangnan, wholly owned subsidiary of Zhejiang Wynca plans to build 30,000 t/a glyphosate project. After the construction, it is predicted that Zhejaing Wynca will possess more market share in China's glyphosate market.

Generally speaking, the ex-works price of glyphosate formulations all didn't change in the first half of May 2015 compared with that in April 2015. But the ex-works price of glyphosate technical decreased by 1.18% month on month.

In March 2015, the export volumes of both glyphosate technical and glyphosate formulations decreased month on month in China. So did the export prices of glyphosate technical and formulations.

Compared with Q1 2014, the export volume of glyphosate technical increased by 4.38% in Q1 2015, and that of glyphosate formulations decreased by 3.59% and PMIDA decreased by 33.32%?
