Palmer Trinity School Wins Best Independent School Award for the Third Consecutive Year

This year, Palmer Trinity School was recognized with the Best Independent School Award at the 2014-2015 Green Schools Challenge and WE-LAB Awards Ceremony.

 

Palmetto Bay, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/19/2015 -- This is the third consecutive year that Palmer Trinity School earns the Top Independent School Award. This award is given to the top scoring independent or private school for the hard work of its students and staff in designing and implementing energy and environmental solutions at their schools.

The Green Schools Challenge is Dream in Green's flagship program, which is currently in its ninth year, serving K-12 students, teachers and staff members in Miami-Dade County. Through the Green Schools Challenge, students and staff are directly involved in designing and implementing energy and environmental solutions at their schools. The Green Schools Challenge and WE-LAB Awards Ceremony took place on Thursday, Jun 3, 2015 at the Museum Tower in Miami Florida. At that time, the following awards and prizes were also distributed to Palmer Trinity School:

The Eco-Summit Award was presented to Palmer Trinity School for its exceptional Science and Sustainability Fair. The Science and Sustainability Fair took place on May 6, 2015 at the school's gymnasium. At the fair, students from different grades and disciplines showcased their ability to harness the power of wind and water to generate electricity, created appealing public service announcements to raise awareness and change public attitudes towards environmental issues, and displayed their written pieces on sustainable living in the greater Miami area.

Dr. Leopoldo Llinas, Director of Environmental Stewardship and teacher of the new Social Entrepreneurship course that is part of the Academy of Agents of Change at Palmer Trinity received the Innovation in Education Award for his exemplary green leadership, passion, and creativity. Palmer Trinity School and Dream in Green believe that schools and youth play a critical role in transitioning towards a more sustainable society.
