Dubai, UAE -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/08/2015 -- Stafford recently celebrated five years of offering the University of Nottingham Postgraduate Certificate in Education (International) – PGCEi in the UAE and the rest of the Middle East. The central elements of the programme are the acquisition of skills needed to create a successful career as a teacher.
The University of Nottingham is among the frontline institutions of higher learning in education in the UK. The PGCEi offered by the university comprises of two face-to-face introductory workshops followed by online learning and expert instructor support. The course focuses on research and enables students to compare teaching approaches in different countries. In the process, they are able to develop themselves as more capable teachers. Students can understand their own education system from an international perspective, become conversant with basic assumptions and evaluate their usefulness in specific educational situations.
The programme consists of four compulsory 15-credit modules which include Contexts, Understanding Learning, Approaches to Teaching and Investigating Student Understanding. The face-to-face workshops involve group discussion, presentations and tutorials, while online components use a dedicated virtual learning environment including learning resources and tutorial support.
To be eligible for admission in the online master degree in UAE, students are required to hold a first degree with at least a second class honours, or equivalent, or an approved professional qualification deemed to be equivalent to an honours degree. Students who do not have English as the first language must achieve IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any element.
