Singer-Songwriter Sarah White Seeks Kickstarter Funding for Her New Record

Singer-songwriter Sarah White is making a record -- the record of her life. Sarah’s funding requirement for this project is $12,000.

Richmond, VA -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/15/2015 -- Years in the making, Sarah's objective is to make her best record ever. She plans to pick the best of her songs and create an album that is a fully realized work of art, no compromise, no filler.

Sarah White is known amongst her fans for her distinctive and wonderfully sad voice. She started her musical journey in the late 90's with two albums of mysterious, lo-fi, experimental folk-rock on the popular Jagjaguwar label. Her first studio album Bluebird came out in 2000 and received accolades from The San Francisco Bay Guardian. Subsequent albums showcased award-winning songs and received praise from the likes of Grammy Award-winner Dave Matthews.

The current project undertaken by Sarah White is different from her previous recording experiences. Instead of going into the studio with a band, she is going in with songs she has carefully selected with producer/musician Stewart Myers (Jason Mraz, Liz Phair, Shawn Colvin). Some very well-known musicians will be involved in recording of the tracks.

Highlighting the uniqueness of this recording project, Sarah says, "I've never approached a recording in this way. The best thing about this process so far, and why it's so fundamental to have a producer on board, is that he brings new ears to the process. He hears things that I don't, and has ideas I might never have thought of. It makes it fun. I believe this process will deliver my songs in a new and compelling way. "

Sarah has just started a Kickstarter campaign to arrange adequate funding for her recording project.

Her funding requirements are:

Production $8600 (studio, musicians, engineer)
Post production $6100 (mixing, mastering, manufacturing, etc.)
Kickstarter Fees (between 5-10% for processing)

This project will only be funded if at least $12,000 is pledged by August 1, 2015.

About Sarah White
Sarah White is a tremendous songwriter who might resemble some kind of Hazel Dickens/Patti Smith/Cat Power love child. She's released records on Jagjaguwar and Antenna Farm and won Best Song at the 2007 Mountain Stage NewSong Contest. Her 2006 album White Light became a cult favorite for its eclectic blend of driving folk-rock, sorrowful country ballads and experimental, personal narrative songs -- the trifecta that defines her lengthening body of work.
