Pune, Maharashtra -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/12/2010 -- International School of Business & Media (ISB&M), Nande, Pune is in process of setting up centers of excellence in a number of specialized and high-growth areas. These centers will operate at the interface of industry and academics and will be involved in generation and dissemination of knowledge as well as offer training and advisory services.
The first one to take off is ISB&M Center for Healthcare Management (ISB&M CHM). The health care sector, valued at about 35 billion dollars is projected to increase to an estimated 80 million dollars by year 2012. The industry however faces several challenges including availability of trained manpower. The Center proposes to play a constructive role in enabling the industry face some of these challenges. The three broad areas where it will be actively working towards developing competences are healthcare delivery, medical equipments & ancillary services and the interface of healthcare and life sciences.
Dr. Veerendra Hiremath, Co-founder & Chief Operating Officer, Vaatsalya Healthcare Solutions - visited ISB&M Nande campus on recently. He shared with the students the challenges of taking healthcare rural and his personal experience in healthcare entrepreneurship. He also spent time with a three-member student team comprising of the first-year students of PGDM program of ISB&M who are currently working on developing a case study on the challenges Vaatsalya faces in meeting its scaling-up plans in the foreseeable future.
Dr. Anirban Sengupta Director, ISB&M Nande - who had earlier been with Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad as Director of its Center for HealthCare Management, comments “Amongst other things, the center is developing an elective course on Strategic Healthcare Management to be offered to the final year students in the PGDM program. It is also planning to launch a longer duration training program aimed at practicing executives in the healthcare arena.”
