Triangle Area Unemployment Goes Up; Raleighcrossing Finds 18,000 Jobs in Area

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/10/2011 -- Unemployment rate in the Raleigh-Durham area, commonly known as the Research Triangle is still losing jobs.

The Research Triangle Park metro area had an unemployment rate of 7.9 percent in November. The jobless rate in Raleigh-Cary was 8.1 percent, while the rate for Durham-Chapel Hill was 7.1 percent.

Unemployment rose in 99 of the North Carolina’s 100 counties as well as in all 14 of its metro areas. North Carolina’s total unemployment rate was also 9.9 percent in November, up from 9.1 percent the previous month. The number of people getting unemployment benefits was 441, 023.

There are opportunities in information technology and engineering.” RaleighCrossing has been able to find over 18,000 jobs in the Raleigh area so far. The biggest job categories for Raleigh are: information technology (1,362), engineering (884), recruiting (908), managerial (1,364), pharmaceutical (324), and science (393).
