Chesterfield, Derbyshire -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/13/2011 -- Sixt rent a car, one of Europe’s leading car and van hire companies, have launched a new electric car hire service from their location in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon.

As part of a partnership with Mitsubishi Portugal, Sixt launched the new electric vehicle at the beginning of January from their Lisbon downtown location. The innovative Mitsubishi i-MiEV model is a zero emission car that runs completely on electricity. In addition to the obvious green benefits of driving the i-MiEV there are also significant cost savings with the average cost per mile being a third cheaper than a car of the same size that runs on gasoline fuel.

The new offering is typical of Sixt who are one of the most innovative companies in the industry leading the way with new vehicles and technology. Portugal now joins a number of other countries where Sixt are already renting out electric vehicles. The electronic car offers a great alternative for eco-conscious renters looking for an alternative to the conventional fuel driven vehicles.

The Mitsubishi i-MiEV joins the Sixt Portugal fleet alongside a diverse range of cars from the worlds leading manufacturers including BMW, Volvo and Volkswagen.

The car is now available to hire from Sixt Lisbon, with daily rates from just 59 Euros.
