Sarasota, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/17/2011 -- In 2010, Laser Pegs sold out in the U.S. and three countries overseas. Over the last six months of the year, 1100 retailers picked up the line. All Laser Pegs products combine Lego’s construction concept with the ambiance of LED supplied light. With each Laser Peg shape illuminating or transferring low voltage current to any other shape it is connected to, you can build endless illuminated abstract models.

Two new kits are set for release at the upcoming Toy Fair, February 13-16, in NYC. The World of Bugs, a themed bug kit, and the 3D Lite Brite Board are the latest editions to the Laser Pegs product line. It took two years to perfect and create the 3D Lite Board.Toy industry professionals who have seen the products have described them as iconic.

The new 3D Lite Brite Board, with 40 holes that conduct low voltage power, acts as a building platform for the laser pegs. With three light settings, kids can create an abstract model and set it to flash faster, strobe, or off. Suggested design models include holiday themes, space rocket platforms, drag racers, or even robots. The Board can support up to 200 laser pegs and its base serves as a storage compartment for all the pieces. The Board can also be used to play five different board games.

When you piece light together one peg at a time, it really puts you in a different creative mindset. The Laser Pegs kits all coincide with one another allowing you to add to your experience in years to come. With our new 3D Lite Board release, existing customers can expand their original sets to build new designs of illuminated abstract models.

“The joy of the toy is endless,” says founder Jon Capriola. “What makes the toy a success right out of the box is that kids are not confined to a strict methodical build. They can create whatever they want and know they accomplished something unlike other construction toys in the market. Laser Pegs have broken all the rules and have taken construction toy sets to an entirely new level.”

Jon also reminds retailers that construction toys account for 27.4% of all toy sales and adds that sales outlets for Laser Pegs go beyond independent toy stores and can be found in gift shops, hospitals, convenience stores, drug stores, hobby shops, and even selected campus book stores. The World of Bugs kit will sell for $59.95 and the 3D Lite Board will sell for $99. Product shipments are scheduled to start in May.
