Dps Sharjah in Association With UAE Exchange Presents Rickie Mathew- memorial Cubs Cricket Season

Delhi Private School Primary wing in association with UAE Exchange successfully completed 3rd season of Rickie Mathew Memorial Cubs Cricket Tournament.

DPS Sharjah, DPS Dubai, Ryan Star International School Sharjah and The New Indian Model School, Sharjah, participated in the tournament. The final match was graced by Chief Guest, Mr. Homi Gazdar, CEO, Dubai Sports City and Guest of Honour, Mr. Maqbul Dudhia, GM - Sports Business, Dubai Sports City, special invitees, officials of UAE Exchange and DPS, apart from the Media.

The DPS Primary wing was more agog with the Cubs Cricket fever than the world cup ?matches. The grounds were decked festively. The exciting final match was between DPS Dubai and DPS Sharjah. After winning the toss DPS Dubai opted to bat. They massed a score of 57 runs. DPS Sharjah fought back valiantly and won the prestigious running ?trophy for the third season. Every ball bowled had all the spectators groaning or leaping in excitement.

Vandana Marwaha, Principal DPS Sharjah said, “It is great to win, but it can be as hard to be a good sport when you have won a game as when you have lost one. In competition as in life we may not always win but we can learn something from losing, too and there's always the next match. Rickie Mathew memorial cub's cricket started during the academic year 2008-2009 has gained huge popularity.

Ms. Mousumi Dasgupta, Headmistress DPS Primary said, “This is a memorial cup and we will always carry the light of Rickie Mathew in our hearts.

This is not about equality but about tapping the energy and potential of every child. The children and teachers have practiced very hard and so have the teachers.”

RJ Tarun from 1024 FM added some spunk to the event with his on-the-spot interviews.

Each participating school was honoured with certificates and medals. The best batsman, ?best bowler and players scoring maximum fours and sixes were awarded trophies and the man of the match awards for each match of the tournament was also given away.

Cubs Cricket it may be but in terms of success it was roaring in every way.
