Encouraged from the thoughts of Nelson Mandela, who said, ‘Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity, it is an act of justice,’ WSI linked forces with World Vision and established its Global outreach Program in 2004 to help make child poverty history.
Vice President of Marketing for WSI Elizabeth Monaghan said, “We take for granted through our personal selfishness, just how much we have. If we feel like a drink, we stop by a pop machine, if we feel like a snack food, we open a cupboard. Only in some cases does the majority of us open that cabinet and find it empty. Whenever we do, we drive to the grocery store, and maybe for an hour or 2, do we feel our bellies talking to us. It is not possible to imagine going days to weeks without suitable nutrition, “said Monaghan.
WSI is humbled to support the MCPH project by means of fundraising, sports events, cultural activities and donations. Presently, there are 1 billion children existing below the standards set by the United Nations Convention in the Rights of Children. There are also innumerable villages left with no aid for their kids. When Monaghan discusses these figures she speaks for the organization as she emphasizes that these figures are the big motivator to make an effort and do more and reach out.
