The Auburn Hills' automaker sold 5,954 Dodge Avengers in March, up 92% from a year earlier; its counterpart, the Chrysler 200 sold 6,750 units, up 78% from the March 2010 sales of the Sebring model it replaced, the paper said. Chrysler also reported dealers sold 500 of the new Fiat 500, the first month the company reported any sales of the small, Mexican-built car, the article said. The 121,730 vehicles Chrysler sold in March marked its best sales month since May 2008 and was 28% higher than its total February sales, the Free Press said.
