Boston Firm Moves Call Center Jobs from India to Maine, Callcentercrossing Finds 4,000 Jobs

The jobs at the new center will be from entry-level customer service agents to human resource executives and managers. The jobs will require people who are well versed in technology.

Pasadena, CA -- (SBWIRE) --05/26/2011 -- Boston-based tech firm Carbonite is shifting its customer service center from India to Maine.

Carbonite, which provides data backup services, already, has a help desk in Boston in addition to its India center. The India center was running for five years and the company found that its customers preferred dealing with its Boston center. The customer satisfaction numbers were consistently high for its Boston office. So the company decided to shift its entire customer service department back to America.

Carbonite has now picked Lewiston in Maine to host its help desk that will replace the one in India. This new office will add around 150 jobs to the town and the company will be closing its India office by the end of the year which employed around 250 people. The reason for choosing Maine was because of the good incentives that the state offered, a better tax rate and a low cost of living compared to Massachusetts.

The jobs at the new center will be from entry-level customer service agents to human resource executives and managers. The jobs will require people who are well versed in technology. The pay range includes jobs that pay more than $50,000 a year in addition to benefits.

CallCenterCrossing, a job aggregator site, has been able to find around 4,000 call center jobs throughout the country. Several of these jobs are for technical help desk positions.
