London, England -- (SBWIRE) --06/15/2011 -- Hotels.com launches the ‘luggage workout’ as it has been found that Brits burn nearly 500 calories before arriving at their holiday destination.

Brits burn more calories along the way to their holiday locations than an intensive one2 hour cardio work-out in a gym, new research from Hotels.com reveals. As busy Brits struggles to fit exercise into their hectic lifestyles, many don’t know how easy it is to incorporate a workout into their daily lives.

On an average Britons are travelling abroad twice a year, a survey by the hotel expert reveals travellers will carry over 3,040kg of luggage in their whole life, which is same as 43 human adults! One in three (35%) person admits that they carry two or more suitcases when going away for the week, and nearly 32% of female travellers rely on their partners in their lives to carry their bags.

In response, Hotels.com has designed a workout that aims to help holiday goers to make the most of their journey, with a number of simple exercises that travellers can do to fill the hours spent queuing at airports. Using revolutionary weightlifting techniques from the ‘suitcase struggle’ to ‘carrying curlers’, the ‘luggage workout’ includes!

Carrying luggage has been recorded as the best way of holiday work-out from 22% of travellers and nearly half (46%) admitting to feeling like they’ve had an exercise on reaching at their destination, the Hotels.com ‘luggage workout’ works with any form of carrier from a holdall, laptop case or handbag. Available online at www.facebook.com/hotelsdotcom, fitness fanatics can watch GYMBOX instructor Troy Dureh at London’s City Airport showing frequent flyers a number of specially designed exercises.

Alison Couper, Communications Director at Hotels.com, said: “Brits can sometimes spend a large amount of time queuing while travelling abroad so we’ve devised a workout to help people make the most of this time. The Hotels.com ‘luggage workout’ aims to help travellers burn those last few pre-holiday calories which will hopefully help put the finishing touches to beach bodies hitting the coastal resorts this summer – also allowing travellers to indulge once they arrive at their hotel!”
