Toyota Camry, Top American-Made Car, Available at Price Toyota

Cars.com recently named the top American Made Cars in their annual American-Made Index. Three Toyotas made the list, including the Camry, which topped the list for the third year in a row. The Camry is available at Price Toyota.

New Castle, DE -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/01/2011 -- For the third year in a row, the Toyota Camry, available at Price Toyota in New Castle, Delaware, has been named the number one vehicle in Cars.com’s American-Made Index. The index ranks vehicles on the percentage of their parts that are made in the United States and the number of cars sold to domestic consumers.

Most Camrys are assembled at Toyota’s plant in Georgetown, KY, while about 25 percent are produced at Subaru’s Lafayette, IN plant. Over the past year, Toyota sold 125,218 domestically made Camrys to U.S. consumers. Almost 80% of the Camry’s parts are made domestically as well.

Two other Toyota models joined the Camry on the 2011 American-Made Index. The Sienna minivan came in at number 6, and is manufactured at the Princeton, IN factory. At number 9 is the Toyota Tundra, which is assembled in San Antonio, TX.

This marks the third time in a row the popular midsize sedan has topped the list of American-Made cars. In order to qualify to be on the list, vehicles must have a domestic parts content rating above 75 percent. Cars are also disqualified if the model is soon to be discontinued without a U.S.-built successor or models are exclusively assembled outside of the United States.

The Camry has been the best-selling car in the United States for over a decade. The 2011 model received minor updates from previous model years, including a larger four-cylinder engine and more standard safety features. The 2011 Camry is currently available at Price Toyota.
