This custom jacket is designed with the purpose to reduce textile waste while empowering women in several areas of this developing country on the equator.

Having already surpassed their original goal, of $5,000 for their kickstarter campaign, they strive to create an even greater impact. The more they are able to raise the more women they will be able to empower and the more waste they will be able to keep from reaching landfills.

"Our goal is to minimize the negative environmental impacts of the clothing industry while providing jobs and empowering women in marginalized areas around Ecuador." Said the creator of REMU REMake Handmade Jacket, while introducing this project to the Kickstarter community.

In addition, the jacket is made entirely from upcycled denim, which is basically second-hand jeans along with the fabric waste that the company buys from local denim factories. The company's aim is to empower women, who skillfully handcraft these jackets and the project will ultimately play a major role in creating jobs for women in Ecuador.
