However, gardening is highly fragmented and players are strong in different categories. Thai Central Chemical PCL is the leading player in garden care due to its strength in fertiliser, and growing media. Green Garden & Farm Co Ltd leads plant protection and pest control, while Siam Ag Marketing Co Ltd heads herbicides. Ikea Trading (Thailand) Co Ltd leads horticulture, which is particularly highly fragmented, and pots and planters. Makita Mfg (Thailand) Co Ltd holds the highest share of retail value sales in gardening power tools, while Teknor Apex Co leads watering.
Gardening is expected to post a 2% value CAGR at constant 2013 prices. Smaller and more limited living spaces, such as condominiums, reduce the opportunities for higher growth. The most lucrative areas for gardening players concern property developments and other large-scale areas that require garden care. Therefore, business/industry rather than household customers will drive gardening.
