Revolutions Medical has donated 50,000 RevVac™ safety syringes to the AmeriCares Foundation.
Charleston, SC -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/04/2014 -- Revolutions Medical Corporation (RMCP) announces that it has donated 50,000 RevVac™ safety syringes to the AmeriCares Foundation. AmeriCares U.S. network is comprised of approximately 700 safety net health centers that serve uninsured or underinsured patients at more than 200% below the federal poverty level. The Medical Outreach program support teams of doctors who set up temporary medical/surgical clinics in areas that lack quality health care. Any teams traveling to West Africa to help fight the Ebola outbreak would have the RevVac™ safety syringes available for selection for their use. The RevVac™ safety syringes will also be used in the AmeriCares safety net heath centers.
"We are grateful to Revolutions Medical for the generous donation of safety syringes and look forward to working together to protect frontline health workers," said AmeriCares President and CEO Michael J. Nyenhuis. "Health worker safety is one of our highest priorities."
Dr. Thomas Beahm, director of Revolutions Medical, states, "As a physician and a retired plastic surgeon, I have been dealing with blood borne diseases all my adult life. I have performed hundreds of surgeries in Asia, Africa, and South America with Operation Smile. The RevVac™ safety syringe with its vacuum technology will eliminate the removal of the needle from the spent syringe, therefore decreasing the chance of an accidental needle stick and blood splatter. This should decrease the risk of the spread of infectious diseases such as Hepatitis B & C, Syphilis, H.I.V., and Ebola virus. I am very proud of our product as well as Revolutions Medical Corp."
Revolutions Medical wants to thank everyone who gave suggestions of charities in response to our donation commitment. The Company also reached out to representatives from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) for recommendations to charitable organizations it believes can best utilize and accept a donation of our RevVac™ Auto-Retractable Vacuum Safety Syringes. These recommendations led us to AmeriCares.
