Shanghai, China -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/25/2016 -- Just like one can ignore the red lights at the highway tolls and make their way out of the toll like a king without having to stop with the help of E-Pass, the researchers have built a device that does for parking lots what radio transponders do for highway tolls.

The new parking technology allows one to pay without paying attention. Onejust needs to park and the system keeps track of all their parking timings. One can just put atag on the windshield and just move into the parking lot without any hassles. The near field communications (NFC) system consists of a small RFID windshield tag.

The parking lot transceivers read the tag and the central database. Once the windshield label signals the parking transceiver as one enters and exit the parking lot, the central database matches their time in the lot and deducts the amount from their account accordingly.

About RFID tag
The car windshield sticker is a passive RFID tag which does not require any batteries. It drays power through the radio waves present in the air that are sent by the transceivers. By having an RFID tag on the windshield, one does not have to break their heads at the number of times they have parked their vehicle or the duration for which they have parked the vehicle. All this is taken care of by the parking meters present on the windshield.
