In fact, according to the ICO (International Coffee Organization), Spain was one of the countries that consumed the most coffee outside of the home in 2011.

Competitive Landscape

The leader in RTD coffee in Spain in 2013 was, for another consecutive year, Kaiku Corporacion Alimentaria, which accounted for a retail value share of 80%. The absolute dominance of the Spanish company within the category can be attributed to its broad presence across the retail channel thanks to its wide distribution network; and the fact that it was the first product of its kind to be released in Spain. Despite the hegemony of this player in the category, Kaiku Corporacion Alimentaria witnessed a significant decline in its share in 2013, which can be attributed to the entry of several new players, especially Starbucks, which caused the player to see a decrease in its share by seven percentage points in 2013.
