Safelet Offers a Chance to Get a Safety Bracelet for One Dollar

Seattle, WA -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/10/2014 -- Safelet is a bracelet that allows people to send out an emergency alert to their friends, family and the police with just one click. Everfind, the team behind it, is raisng money on Indiegogo, the largest international crowdfunding platform.

The device is made as a slick fashion accessory and connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth BLE. A person can invite friends and family members to join her “guardian network”. There is an option to include the whole “guardian community” in the network to get even more protection. “We want to create a world where there is always someone around to help you when you most need it.”(Herman Veenstra, a founder of Safelet). It also has an option to alert the closest law enforcement office.

The bracelet, when activated, will show the exact location of the sender and transmit the sound of happening through the built-in microphone.

The project has raised more than eighty percent of the funding goal with fourteen more days to go. Safelet will be sold for $129 later this year. But early supporters have a chance to win it by pledging just $1 on Indiegogo. One in five contributors will receive the bracelet. The winners announced daily. Eighteen people have won the Safelets already.

Recent studies provide horrifying data: almost 35% of all women, regardless of where they live, experience sexual violence. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, every 2 minutes, another American is sexually assaulted. Safelet is created to help the women take control over their safety and to give an opportunity to everyone who cares to step up and join the guardian community.
