Saint Jude Retreats Announces Partnership with Journeymen Wrestling

Saint Jude Retreats has partnered with Journeymen Wrestling to help bring "Mini-Men Nationals" and "National Duals" tournaments to the public.

Amsterdam, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/15/2016 -- Saint Jude Retreats, an education-based non-12 step program designed to help people struggling with substance use issues, has announced that they will be partnering with Journeymen Wrestling in two of Journeymen's premier wrestling events throughout April and May. This partnership will help Journeymen to continue successfully executing their mission to "promote, teach, advocate and showcase wrestling throughout the Northeast" while also providing exposure to the youth wrestling community of the services provided by the St. Jude Retreats.

Mark Scheeren, Chairman and Cofounder of Saint Jude Retreats, is excited about the opportunity. "Saint Jude's is about helping people," he said. "Over the past year, I have seen several people from the national youth wrestling community contact us here at St. Jude's for help with substance use issues. This was a result of word getting out about St. Jude's because people knew that I had a son on the national youth wrestling duals circuit, so there was a natural trust there. After discussing this trend with Journeymen's Founder, Coach Frank Popolizio, he agreed that it would be a great fit for our two organizations to partner with the mission to help more of our youth and their families who are struggling with these addiction issues." As Frank stated, "We have to help our youth by giving them opportunities to do constructive, productive things; activities that encourage self confidence and humility; both qualities that wrestling exemplifies. Journeymen Wrestling is a community and national wrestling presence, and I'm happy and proud to have Saint Jude's as a sponsor."

Saint Jude Retreats will be sponsoring the Pop & Flo Mini-Men Nationals as well as the Pop &Flo National Duals, where it will be raffling off a Tiffen Home Mat at each event. Wrestlers can use these mats to practice at home and the ticket price will be just $3.00.

The Pop & Flo Wrestling Series is the result of a 2010 partnership between Journeymen Wrestling and Flo Wrestling, and has led to the creation of three of the most well-known wrestling tournaments in America: The Pop & Flo National Duals in Lake Placid, NY, Pop & Flo Southern Style Duals in North Carolina, and the Pop & Flo Mini-Men Nationals in Schenectady, NY. The Minimen Men Nationals is a tournament designed to get the best youth wrestlers in the Northeast (and around the world) together for a single day tournament.

The head of Journeymen Wrestling is Coach and Founder Frank Popolizio. Popolizio has coached for the better part of the past quarter-century, leading Shenendehowa High School in upstate New York to state championships in 2007, 2008, 2011, and 2012, as well as sectional championships nine out of ten years. His collaboration with Flow Wrestling has led to an explosion of media accessibility within the sport, as Flow is the primary source of media in the wrestling community.
