Nashville, TN -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/27/2016 -- Scouting for Diamonds is a feature-length documentary film to be directed by Molly Secours. This film is about scouts, the invisible heroes of baseball and features Baseball Hall of Fame Members Wade Boggs, Willie Mays, George Brett & many others. And while the film is certainly for those whose first love is baseball, it is for anyone who enjoys a good love story.

Following a screening of the four-minute trailer at Winter Meetings in Nashville last month, Secours was overwhelmed by positive responses from scouts, players and executives--all who encouraged her to finish the film and urged her to start a crowd-funding campaign to raise a small portion of the full production budget to continue shooting through Spring Training.

After seeing the trailer, Pittsburgh Pirates Manager, Clint Hurdle not only pledged immediately but he also sent out an email to thousands urging them to do the same. And veteran Red Sox Scout, Gary Hughes did the same. "This film is important and the story of scouting needs to be told", says Hughes.

The makers of 'Scouting for Diamonds' have interviewed dozens of men and women who have given their lives to the game in search of that 'next great player.' with as much as footage as possible to be included in the final cut of this groundbreaking film that tells the story from the perspective of legendary players and the scouts who discovered them.

As an independent film project, this film is relying heavily on outside funding so it can be completed which makes their Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign the logical choice in raising the funds needed. According to Ms. Secours, "Since we unleashed the trailer two weeks ago I'm getting calls and emails from scouts and former players all across the country telling me their stories of the scout that signed them and what a pivotal role scouts played in their lives and careers. Everyone seems to have a love story about scouts".

So far, this crowdfunding project has raised nearly 10% of its funding goal of $85,000 with three weeks still to go.
