Baltimore, MD -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/23/2015 -- Winner of eight US film festival awards, Noble opened in multiple cities across the U.S. on May 8. Now, NOBLE it is coming to Baltimore for one night only. The film tells the gripping true story of Christina Noble, who rose from the slums of Ireland to become the fearless and loving protector of thousands of abandoned children in Vietnam.
The Hollywood Reporter calls the film "a joyful and rousing affirmation of the human spirit that will resound widely."
The film will be shown at the Loew's AMC Theater on The Avenue in White Marsh, MD on July 9, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available via advance online sales at https://www.tugg.com/events/25583. Closing date for ticket sales is July 2, 2015.
The film travels in time among Vietnam in the 1980s, England in the 1960s, and Ireland in the 1950s. Noble's childhood is grim, but she manages to find hope and joy by singing. Her mother dies when Noble is young, and her brothers and sisters are split apart. Eventually, she ends up on the streets. Noble suffers abuse and extraordinary loss. She finds love and heartache. At one of the darkest times in her life, Noble has a dream.
Inspired by that dream, Noble travels to Ho Chi Minh City and discovers that one fiercely determined person can do the impossible.
"Of course when I began here in Vietnam, people said what I wanted to do was impossible," said Christina Noble. "'You are only one person ' they said. But when I was a child, I needed only one person to understand my suffering and my pain, one person to love me. One is very important. There are many ones and they add up."
Noble, written and directed by Stephen Bradley, stars Deirdre O'Kane (MOONE BOY, PATHS TO FREEDOM), Brendan Coyle (DOWNTON ABBEY, THE RAVEN, AILSA), Sarah Greene (THE GUARD, THE CRIPPLE OF INISHMAAN), and Liam Cunningham (GAME OF THRONES, HUNGER, SAFE HOUSE), and introduces Gloria Cramer Curtis, who plays the young Christina Noble with extraordinary skill and grace.
The music is by two-time Grammy award winner Giles Martin and three-time BAFTA nominee Ben Foster. The cinematographer is Trevor Forrest, who won the Best Cinematography award at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival.
Noble won the Panavision Spirit Award for Independent Cinema at the 2014 Santa Barbara International Film Festival; Best Foreign Film at the 2014 San Diego Film Festival; the Audience Award at the 2014 Dallas International Film Festival and the 2014 Nashville Film Festival; the Audience Award for Best Foreign Feature and the Jury Award for Best Foreign Film at the 2014 Newport Beach Film Festival; and Special Jury Prize and Best Feature at the 2014 Boston Irish Film Festival.
Noble founded the Christina Noble Children's Foundation (CNCF), which is committed to alleviating child poverty and giving children the right to a happy and safe childhood. The foundation provides health, residential, educational, vocational, and community development services to children and their families in Vietnam and Mongolia.
