Sheltered by Grace Investigates How Shelters Can Make a Difference

Waterford, Queensland -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/30/2015 -- Sheltered by Grace, an Australian charity in Logan, Brisbane that has been established to counter homelessness by transforming lives through their full case management program, is doing their part by spreading awareness about the increase of homelessness in Australia, drawing attention to the benefits of shelters such as theirs in Logan and motivating people to help out to counter the serious problem. Recently the SBG blog featured a new article regarding the benefits of a homeless shelter and how they can truly make a difference.

SBG shelters offer supported accommodation with 24-hour onsite support and a full case management program that focuses on rebuilding the lives of the homeless until they are able to fend for themselves and their families again, while trying to keep their self-esteem intact throughout the entire process. The new article outlines the issues that many government funded and privately funded shelters face which limits them from providing the full extent of assistance needed to get the homeless get their lives back together.

The article states: "Unlike SBG – other shelters are government funded and must operate under given guidelines as their funding is subject to those parameters. Most other homeless shelters are not self-sustaining models, not easily duplicated and used to be restricted to the industry standard of a 3 month placement only for a needy person, which unfortunately tended to be very much like a revolving door."

One most common problem that homeless people face is carrying out everyday survival tasks, even tasks that may seem mundane to most people or are taken for granted, shelters provide a solution for most of these problems. Many shelters also provide some clean clothes, sadly only a very few provide the rest. Sheltered By Grace is however different because it does not receive funding from government and run only through the generous donation of compassionate people, which allows the charity to offer the type of support the homeless need through a self-sustaining system that can truly make a difference.

The article also specifies the different types of homeless people and how each type can be assisted to regain control of their lives. A list of well-known people including international celebrities who have been homeless yet emerged victorious has been shared in the article.
